OK, I like it and have got the previous Versions too. So, as part of RG's Shooter Suite PE4.1 you can get for the next few hours a 25% discount. But as an UG - that's me - $99, then using this 24 hour discount knocks it back to $74 and change.
Just my opinion, but the best version of PE was the original Version 2 which was specifically for Vegas. I upgraded to 3.0 which never worked as well, plus it didn't like the AVCHD files from a Sony Handycam, so I've not used it. V 3.5 added the ability to adjust the length of audio files due to drift. V4 made it completely "idiot-proof" where the user has zero control and even though it "worked", I found it to be painfully slow compared with the original version.
My suspicion is that the original version of PE will be another victim of the new Magix V14 and since its development is "dead", I'll have another reason to stay with V13.
By personal-definition, I like idiot proof! - And Wayne you've had firsthand experience of my stellar idiot-ness with the OIGE Script you patiently adapted for me, and others.
As to its tardiness, PE4.1 appears to be rapid. But I'll keep checking.
Wayne, try a DEMO download and see if you can see a value in it?
I see this as yet ANOTHER reason for MAGIX to get closeted with their 3rd Party providers and ensure MAGIX VP14 reachout-ability!
I did the demo download for v4 earlier this year. Have no idea if it's changed significantly since then. Unfortunately, I'm in Seattle again for medical reasons and will not be back at my editing station for awhile to test.
I forgot my most important dislike of the later versions--no ability for audio frame offsets. I recall complaining to them about that with V3, but it was never addressed. Even at 60P, there were always discrepancies and I could not get the waveforms to match except if moved manually, which really defeated the whole purpose of the plug-in. Anyway, I've kept with V2.
As an aside, their videos are misleading. The outcomes may be accurate, but the time to achieve those outcomes is misleading.
I watched the video and while it is interesting, I will stay with version 2.03 (7137) for now.
I do not have any drift problems so I do not need a solution for that. I DO like the fact that there are options in the older version that allow me to customize according to my needs.
From what I have previously read, I do not think my version qualifies for the upgrade price and I do not get paid until next week so I have no money for it right now anyway.
Why are these sales always before people get paid? Do they really want people to buy their products while they are on sale and/or have discounts?
That's what's misleading. It's NOT instantaneous, it takes a looooong time, at least for the stuff I've synced. If you have only a few events, it might be very quick, but OTOH if you have lots of relatively short video events taken over a relatively long time it's pretty slow. As I recall several hundred events over 4-5 hours took almost an hour to process, whereas the v2 with the proper options selected only took a few 4-5 minutes.
Thanks for the good wishes. Not me, but my wife--3rd major surgery of the year.
I have the original PE version 2 and it always work great, no complain what so ever. About a month ago I decided to buy PE version 4 and I have to agree verson 4 is not as accurate in syncing as good as the original version 2. Reason I bought it because it was really cheap. I paid only $40 for it.

I wish I could still purchase Version 2. The trial worked well for me, but at the time could not justify it. Now I can.
This "previous version" business is one of my pet peeves. We see lots of times that an earlier version is better, but how to purchase that version? With Freeware one can go to various sites that catalog downloads of old versions, but I do wish vendors of sold products would continue to offer the old versions for sale with the proviso that there would be no support.
I'd wager there are a lot of folks on this board who would love to buy Vegas9c and run it, but they can't. Legally, anyway.
