Point to new Project Media location. . .

Searching the Forum I didn't find any suggestions for this.

For an existing legacy project (which I am about to update) I have copied all the Project Media to a new hard drive. However I am maintaining the copy of the media on the original location.

Is there a simple way/command in Vegas Pro 10 to en mass have it point to a new location? If not I imagine I can rename the legacy folder and when the prompt comes up for Media not being found point it over to the new location.

On a related challenge, is there a way to export and/or print the contents of all the Project Media entries in the Details view? I can do a screen print but what I really need is the contents in text form.

Thanks much,

Wayne

Using the media not found prompt is the cleanest way. If all your media is in one folder it's also the fastest.

You should be able to highlight the contents of the table that's displayed under Details view, copy it, and paste it into a text file or spreadsheet file.

My free Timeline Tools Vegas Extension has a feature called Export Event Table Data that will export to a text file, information contained in selected columns visible in the main display. You can also choose to include a column header, and specify the column delimiter- Tab by default.

The feature is invoked from a menu item near the bottom of the Main Display Grid context menu. That opens up the http://www.nfatoys.com/moasoftwarellc/TLT_Guide.htm#Export_Event_Table_DataExport Event Table for Selected Track(s)[/link] form.

Once the file has been exported, you can drag it an Excel spreadsheet grid.

Thanks for confirming my options on the media switch. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed a better option.

Using Vegas Pro 10 and the Project Media Details view I can select multiple rows and highlight them BUT I cannot Copy the data either with Ctrl+C or using a command when right-clicking. I tried different options with that table and could not find a way to select and copy.

Gary, thanks for the pointer to your Timeline Tools. I've downloaded 1.034 and will give it a try. Fortunately I decided to hold off on the move to 11 as for my needs it looked like a step back in time, so I may not have problems.

I did download and (old school) print the documentation. Amazing a free tool with good documentation when some vendors sell buggy, over-priced software and have lousy or no documentation.

Thanks for your efforts and community spirit!

Is it possible to Export the list of Media shown in the Project Media Some of that info is in the Event Grid but I'm looking to get the Names and the Paths from that Project Media tab, at the bottom of the display with my window setup. There is in some of my earlier projects associated media that hasn't yet been placed on the tracks.

Thanks!

Gary James,

Thanks for the tip -- and I had seen, checked out your program but initially shied away from it since I'm not exactly in the power-user bracket. That said, seeing your reply here and going back to your site, I've downloaded it and may take the plunge anyway. If I get to master some of this great freeware (might take me a couple of years - lol), I'll have to add you to the list of "Grand Poubah Vegas Editor-Yodas" as listed in my recent "A THANK YOU to All Who Have Helped Me Here" thread ;D
