Poor MPEG encoding in Platinum

Is it just me, or does the MPEG encoder in Platinum produce poorer quality results compared to those in VMS4?
In VMS4 I was always happy with the rendered results, but in VMS Platinum the MPEG video has more artifacts and is over-saturated. It was only after someone else mentioned they were using MainConcept's stand-alone encoder that I thought I'd try it out as well. I know it's a dedicated package but I was very impressed with the results and I'm sure VMS4 used to be of similar quality. I'd love to hear from anyone else about Platinum's new encoder.
Take a look at these example snapshots to see what I mean.

Sorry fishbelt, I don't follow what you're trying to say. MP3 player? In Vegas? In Windows? Are you sure you want the Vegas forums at all?
Please clarify!

well Andy I have not any problems with Vegas but when I use Ms media player for antthing it's fussy and pextiles are present. Just looks bad. This started some time ago as I tried up dates etc. If I use some other players it works well. Vlc works great and so did winampe. Just microsoft media player is terrible? Use to play well, even e mail stuff. I just stoped using MS media player. Ya I like the forums. It just bugged me.
