Poor quality on LCD TV

Hello,
I have created a DVD with DVDA 4b, when i look it on my SONY CRT TV, image has a very high quality. Some days ago i saw it at friend's home who have a Hitachi flat sreen TV (don't know if it is LCD or Plasma), and i was very disapointed by the result, it was like if you look pictures on a 16 colors screen resolution. Colors variations look like a degradé specialy on the personage skin when they move.
Is there something special to do to create DVD for a LCD / PLASMA TV ? thanks in advance.
VINCENT

Settings : PAL (720x576) Video Bitrate :8000, Prgressive=Auto. When i create DVD i have only warning message : video has a too high bitrate to play properly on some DVD players.

Is it possible that your friend just hasn't set up his TV very well? When we got our plasma TV, most content looked like utter crap until I tweaked the settings. And even then, some things look good and some things do not. It has not so much to do with the quality of the content than it does the lighting in the viewing room and the kind of content being viewed (how dark / light, how much contrast, all that junk).

You may or may not have also been seeing some pixellation 'cause, yes, 8000 is a bit high for a burned DVD. Burned DVDs are harder for players to read than pressed (commercial) DVDs.

thanks Rob, I think i will try to connect my cam directly on his TV to see if i have the same problem reading the film directly from the cam, like this i will know if the problem come from his TV settings.

3M Vikuiti puts out a free DVD as an aid to adjusting TVs, particularly LCDs. Do not know about availability or anything -- the label gives the address of www.Vikuiti.com

Here's the full link for the setup DVD from 3M:

Unfortunately, it says it's out of stock.
