POOR RESOLUTION

I am using Movie Studio+DVD 6.0 for compiling digital stills taken with a Nikon D70 on high resolution setting. When I make a DVD, or even prior to rendering it into a DVD, the resolution is horrible, either fuzzy or very pixilated. In 'Project Properties' I have set 'Full Resolution Rendering Quality' to 'best' and I have the width and height set to 800 x 800. Surely there must be a method of getting the resolution to the same quality as what the camera produced. The photos look great if I just look at them individually using something like Dell Picture Studio. Why does the quality degrade so much when I try and make a DVD set to music?

DVDs are 720x480 or 720x576, not SVGA resolution. I am pretty sure you are either doing something wrong, or you can't get passed the fact that DVDs are lower res than the big megapixel pictures.

where are you setting the 800x800 resoulution? I'm not at my VMS PC now so I can't tell where you might be doing it, but I think that has something to do with your poor resolution.

I am setting the resolution by clicking on the 'Properties' icon.

As for the other comment, it has nothing to do with the resolution on a DVD. The same poor resolution comes through just watching the video on my computer, even prior to rendering it for or placing it on a DVD. And by the way, I have put my photos on a CD and they look great. I am not talking about a minor problem, the pixelation is very noticable and looks horrible. It is totally unacceptable for such a well known product. It leads me to believe I am doing something wrong or the product has a flaw. Are the later versions any better?

800x800?? Are you sure? That's a custom resolution, why aren't you using one of the standard templates? I placed a photo on the timeline then changed the properties to 800x800 and the picture when from good to bad in the preview.

Check your properties again, choose one of the standard templates.

1) In your photo program, resize the pictures to a size below 2048 pixels
2) Make your movie,
3) make sure you apply 'reduce interlace flicker' to all your pictures.

second: make sure you're not working with thumbnails instead of the actual pictures!
