Pops and Clicks in Audio with Envelopes

Been a while since I was able to take the time to edit anything, so I am just now finding something odd.

In V 4.0c, when using an Audio Envelope, at EVERY node that the cursor/playback indicator passes, there is a tiny little pop.

Anyone else notice this? Am I imagining it. It is louder in loud passages, quieter in quieter passages.

If I remove a node, the pop goes away.

Any thoughts, anyone?

I have noticed that with VV4.0c, the sound playback is much more sensitive to other demands on the computer. In VV3, the sound was pretty consistent no matter what was going on with video, envelopes, etc. With VV4.0c, the sound (at least the preview playback) gets disrupted by a lot of things. I have seen it with a slide show; every event crossfade caused the audio to break up a bit. With a .mov clip, the audio was also broken a bit.

It seems that when the CPU has to deal with something a bit more difficult than straight DV video, the audio suffers a bit.

Note that my observations aren't a very thorough test. I also changed from a plain stereo sound card to a 5.1 surround device at the same time as I changed to VV4.0c, so that is probably causing at least some of my audio issues, as well.

Finally, after rendering, my audio is just fine. I only see the breakups during preview.

I just finished editing a 90-minute piece that had audio going all over the place--lots of envelopes and corrections. I never noticed what you've described, though.

I'll go back and give a listen. If I hear anything, I'll post stating such.

I noticed the same thing in 4.0c when in preview mode even when doing multiple video straight cuts, but the segment shares the same audio event. I was worried I would have to redo the audio track prior to printing to tape or rendering!! Mcgeedo, are you saying it's most likely it will print to tape just fine??? I hope this issue will be addressed in 4.0d because it was not a problem in 3.0

In my case, it prints just fine. The audio sounds great. The issue only shows up for me in preview.

I also think the preview issue would go away for me if I used a faster computer. I'm using an 800 MHz P3 and Win2000.

Thanks. It may be that it is temporary. Disconcerting, in any case. Haven't rendered any of this, yet.

I had problems with pops and clicks too, I discovered that when you turn the preview window off it disappears, use an external monitor instead. Also when you render the project everything is great, no problems.

I am using an external monitor, and I did a Prerender of about 10 minutes of it. Still popping. Any ideas.

Thanks, Kevin.

Anyone had any luck FIXING what was admitted to be a bug concerning source offset? It has been over seventy days now since the mentioned thread was started, but nothing has been posted that looks like a fix.
