Porting Sony software features to Vegas

O.K., here's a wish list of a different sort. What features are available in other Sony/Madison Media Software applications that you'd like to see in Vegas? These would seem to be no-brainers for the engineers to port over.

I'll get things started:

1. Nested folder tracks like in Acid.

2. An interactive "Edit Details" window that lets you select corresponding regions, events, etc. on the timeline when you click them, like the "Regions List" in Sound Forge.

3. A "paths" menu to set default file paths for various types of files, like in Acid.

4. Sony Oxford plug-ins that are compatible with Vegas, without additional hardware. Seems like CPUs are getting fast enough we should be able to ditch the whole Power-Core hardware idea.

Audio Event Fx like CD-Architect.

O.K., I'll add some more:

"Open in graphics editor" like in DVDA 4.

And going the other direction, I'd like DVDA to have the same keyboard shortcuts (or customizable keyboard layouts) as Vegas 7.0. For example, I'd like to be able to set DVDA to use the space bar as a "pause" key instead of "play"/""stop." I've gotten in certain habits from using Vegas, and it would be nice if all other Sony Media Software products behaved the same way.

Brian,

I don't use the other stuff enough to add to your list, but I'll second your first nomination (nested tracks like Acid) while bumping this thread up for more inputs. Hate to give up all that vertical room on the timeline just for a semi-complex title series -- just collapse them down to one track with a single click!

I'll support the Sony Oxford support, audio wise Vegas although more than capable for what I do does seem to be slipping badly. Lets not forget the importance of the audio side of what we do, in fact current job which was a total screwup vision wise was saved by the good audio.

I'd also agree about the nested track thing, I'm working on a project with all manner of different ARs and 3D things going on and the number of tracks is growing alarmingly, might have to think about pivoting the monitor so I can fit them all in.

I think this is fairly obivous but I would like to see DvdA and Vegas full integrated into the same application, not two seperate ones. And for that matter Cinescore as well, one tool at one price.
