Positioning a transition BETWEEN two events

After splitting an event into two parts, I have been adding transitions between the two parts. However, sometimes I am unable to achieve this and the transition always attaches either to the end of the first event or to the start of the second event and I want it to be in between.

Is there a special way to do this? It seems that sometimes, no matter how careful I am with the mouse I cannot find the join.

Thanks in advance.

After you've split the event, grab the right hand event and slide it a little way to the left so it overlaps slightly. You'll see a small icon of a film at the overlap - put the transition on this. If you don't add a transition you'll have a cross-fade.

Thanks for the tip. I used it successfully. But the manual still talks about placing transitions between events and it does work sometimes - I guess it's one of the mysteries of the universe that will be revealed in time :)

Thanks again.

Very easy...

Before dropping any transition, do a crossfade so one event overlaps the other. You generally want to overlap the rightmost event over the left. As you do the "X" expands. If you have trouble seeing it, zoom in. Now drop any transition over the overlap area. That's all there is to it. Adjust the overlap to get the timing effect you want.

The problem was i didn't have auto-crossfade turned on - and so there was nothing to drop it onto - now I have and it works fine. Thanks for the tip.
