Possible V4 Bug w/ timecode gen

RobSoul wrote on 3/16/2003, 11:00 PM
Well, at least I HOPE this is a bug and not the way V4 should be acting...

Vegas 4 crashes for me EVERY time I try to record audio into a track while at the same time generating MIDI timecode.

Also, there seem to be timing issues in the MIDI timecode. My sequencer is randomly off time with Vegas. Sometimes it locks up. Sometimes the very same sequence is suddenly off by 12-15 ticks.

I had ROCK SOLID sync using Vegas 3.

My system:
Vegas 4.0 (build 115)
WinXP
Pentium IV, 2.0GHz processor
1 GB RAM
Dakota sound card

Any help, SF?

what kind of sequencer(s) do you use? i had the same problem with 3.0, never with 2.0, and so far, not with 4.0. it's like the grid vegas sets up for 120bpm (or whatever your tempo happens to be) is just...OFF.

one of those things that makes you lay in bed at night and stare at your ceiling into the small hours of the morning, huh?

this is one of the two vegas problems i need to figure out how to fix permanently. the other is that crackling that randomly appears embedded into random takes. only happened once since i upgraded my machine to 1.6Ghz, Win Xp, etc...still freaking annoying though.

Not just a result or by-product of excessive cpu consumption is it ?

i can't see how the grid established by vegas would be compromised by excessive cpu usage...usually i define the tempo before i've even started adding any tracks.

or did you mean the crackling embedded in the tracks was the by-product? that makes sense...happened a lot more with my old machine, especially when resource-heavy effects (antares auto tune, etc) were used...

forgive me, it's very early here.

I use Cakewalk running on a seperate PC from my audio PC. (Hooked up via a MidiMan BiPort interface.)

But, like I said, Vegas 3 worked fine. I emailed Tech Support but haven't heard back from them yet. I hope I hear something soon!

What drivers are you using with the Dakota? ASIO ? WaveClassic?

Hi Rob-

I have a test system running XP with the Dakota card.

I'm seeing problems but I think they may be driver related. In addition to the answer of which driver model (ASIO, Mapper, etc), I would like to know what sort of a crash you are getting. Are you getting an exception error with crash details or are you getting a blue screen crash?

Additionally, what version of Dakota drivers are you using?

Thanks,
Jenn

Hello!

I am running the Dakota PCI audio card with...

Driver Version: 5.10.0.3504
Driver Date: 2/11/2002

Should I be using their new WDM driver?
