possibly bug in c-build..?

Hi.

Did this once in the first build of vegas 4.0, but it doesnt seem to work in the latest.
Heres how.. Doing a simple resize with track motion ending up with corrupted fields
(jerky motions). it feels that vegas workes in a 25P mode when resizing, becasue it doesnt account for the fields, it simply resizing the whole image and not the field information.

Btw.. a PAL user..

Try invoking the supersampling ?

Make sure source media field order and render field order are both set correctly. Make sure you're rendering with Good or Best quality.

. . . and?
zued wrote on 6/12/2003, 4:22 AM
..and? ;)

... not working. It messes up the field information.( progressive scaling ).

How are you viewing your footage? Are you creating an MPEG2 onto SVCD\DVD or are you printing back into the camcorder and viewing via that?

Im creating a DV-file.(render to a new track)
You can see the artifacts in the preview window(preview auto (which is 25P)) when you have rendered to new track(DV).
And Yes. They also show if you render to MPEG2 or printing to tape/camera.

*EDIT*
http://www.habomedia.se/TESTScaleRotation.wmv -Windows media 9 file,(700Kb)

Scaled and rotated clip, rendered to new track, then rendered to fullsize Wmv...
As you can see, the fields has not rendered correctly. They just rotated with the image.
/*?progressive?

Project is in standard pal.( lower fields and so on..). the clip is logged in vegas(lower fields).. so tell me.. whats wrong. It worked before This 24P stuff came.(pre c-build)

Thanks.

Zued:

Correct me if I am wrong:

You captured PAL DV with Vegas
Footage is correctly interpretted as lower firld first by Vegas (media properties)
You loaded that footage into a Pal DV project, lower field first.
You used track motion to resize, rotate a clip.
You rendered as PAL DV, lower first...

...and you see what appears to be a field order problem.

Is this correct?

If so please email the project file and a short (like 2mb) captured DV clip to drdropout@sonicfoundry.com. We'll take a look.

Correct, and you will have the projectfile in your mailbox in a few seconds..

( a mail with subject: "E-post: ScaleRotate.zip")

Thanks

Ok, you are correct, there is a bug here and we'll have it fixed in the forthcoming 4.0d update.

In the short term (prior to our update) you can make a tiny adjustment to pan/crop for the rotated events- a minimally impactful setting would be open open event pan/crop, set "center" to 360.1...and that'll do it without messing with the image scaling. Quickblur set to zero should also do the trick.
