I have no illusion that my work rates anything higher than hobby status. I know this forum is frequented by folks who know their stuff, that in part is why I'd be interested in opinions and suggestions. Stuff like, "try using dynamic compression around this frequency", "or bring out the vocal by pushing the mids, etc."
I record my compositions in my home setup-still using Vegas 2.0(!), SF 6.0, acid screenblast for assembling loops. Once at my site, click on the track named "I Know Why". A silly little pop song.
You are a great guitar player Larryo. Thankfully your talent is worthy of posting your work, personally speaking, because I like hearing others interpretation of music and how they mix it all together in Vegas. IMO I would add a touch of depth to your voice via a QUALITY reverb plugin because your style of singing IS dynamic and a touch of properly adjusted verb will really make your voice jump when you want it to. I tend to look at completely dry vocals as an effect in and of itself. I know it sounds cliche to just "add" some verbs to the vocals, but that usually is overblown by less talented vocalists who are looking for "anything" to make them sound better. HOWEVER, in your case it would be a matter of adding a touch for the RIGHT reasons. Keep up the solid work man, you're good!
John
Thanks, John. I can't even remember what verb plug I used for the vocs. I think it was Izotope Ozone, which I primariliy use for mastering, but find it's reverb better than my other choices. I did keep it fairly light on the lead vocals.
