The Sony HDR-CX700? What an odd choice of a camera to compare with the FX1. They really aren't the same thing at all. In fact, they are so different that I couldn't find any site that directly compares them, but Slashcam lets you compare any two cameras in their database. I'd post a link, but the page generated by the comparison comes from their database and so cannot be linked to directly. However, here's one section, with the FX1 on the left. This tells at least part of the story, namely that the FX1 is aimed at professionals, and provides a huge number of manual adjustments (although not as many as the Z1).

Focus switcher ? Yes No
ND Filter ? Yes No
Exp Lock ? Yes No
Gain ? Yes No
White balance ? Yes No
Push AF ? Yes No
Audio Levels ? Yes No

"I guess wasting 7000 grand on a cam"

Uh, "7000 grand" is $7 million dollars.

"I suggest you ask young people who understand much better than people who hang out on this forum writing long winded posts."

Young people think they understand but it is just their arrogant ignorance showing. We've all been there just not lately. I'll put my experience, body of work and understanding of current video trends up against yours any day of the week. In fact, most of the "geezers" here have impressive knowledge and understanding of the video biz.

Dreaming actually claimed that the HDR-CX700 is better than the EX1R.

Think of the money we could have saved if only he'd shared his wisdom earlier!
