@Laurence

your point is correct.

the most strange things about this, as the data is just "sent", why are so frame drops on every machine, that is capable or playing a lot of dv files at same time?

and the most important off all:

why PPT works perfect? i can use PPT and convert video, edit on another instance of vegas, even photoshop too at same time with not a single frame skip. thats is why i think is a vegas "read buffer" problem. if ppt can play smooth, why "timeline play" cant?

i will see the IRQ sharing, and try some thing.... ;) tnks for your and others help

problem solved. my boss just moved to premiere... and say that we must use premiere too.

after that, i quit my job... sad ending... :(

That is a sad ending but it definitely sounds like a hard drive problem if the light is on constantly while playing back. You didn't say how many drives you had and you indicated in an earlier post that your temp directory was on the RAID where I assume your video files are. A good partitioning strategy is that the Windows swap file and temp folder are on a separate physical hard drive from the video files drive so that there is no arm contention with reading the video file and swapping memory. That means you should have another hard drive besides the RAID that is your system drive where Windows and all of your programs are stored.

the machine has another 250g sata drive, the raid is only for videos. everything else in in the other.

the lights keep "on" only in vegas playback on timeline. premiere does not do it.

if is a machine problem, would occur in all programs, in all ways. as vegas PPT works, as premiere "timeline play" works...

and again, i can play 12 dv videos in any media player, so, theres no chance of being an hd problem...

is a vegas problem...

as you can see here, the hds are excellent:
