PPlane Z-thickness (feature request)

The plane is utterly flat - so when rotating in 3d, you have no control of any z-thickness, giving a lack of sense of 3d space. It would be great to be able to specify planar thickness, and even combine with filtering to have effects such as "extrusion" of the plane. This would make stuff like the protype titler so awesome!

As much as I'd like to see this I can see a couple of issues.

Firstly there's no shortage of 3D applications that do this so why re-invent the wheel. Plus they come at all levels of functionality and price. Implement them in Vegas and it be too little too cheap for many or too much and too expensive for many.

Secondly without GPU acceleration these things take forever to render and that's OK but even trying to see what you're doing in preview is a problem. Every 3Dish app I've played with uses the GPU for preview and has the option to use it for rendering or goto a higher quality (and slower) software renderer for final output.

Yes, I considered that - which is why I kept the simplicity to a minimum. At the moment I have options which mean constantly leaving Sony when editing images and creating 3d, getting additional effects etc. Would be nice to be able to stay in a little more often.

A really simple "thickness" control, (with transparancy/alpha handling) would be peachy to me.
