Practice Editing on Random Web Video

Is there any particular reason why a downloaded QT web video would play just fine in a QT player and play stutter-y and with artifacts in Vegas?

It could be that your projectsettings are not 100% fit to the source. Try and get the properties of the mov you have and then adjust your settings in vegas accordingly.
