Pre-Render Error

This is a message I get everytime I open more than one instance of Vegas and try to prerender both at the same time. (Obviously the file number changes for each error message.)

"An error occurred while creating the media file Vegas Prerendered Video File 0206.avi. The file could not be opened. Make sure the file exists and that you have access to the file/folder."

What the deal with this????

I would guess that Vegas uses the existing names in the directory to determine what the next filename should be. When two instances need a new filename at the same time, it is quite possible that they see that the last filename was Vegas Prerendered Video File 0205.avi and so they both tried to open and write to a new file called Vegas Prerendered Video File 0206.avi. That would cause one of them to fail. This is just a guess but it would make sense. One fix would be for Sony to change Vegas to add the project name to the prerendered file name so that the file names would be unique within a project.

Sony, please address this. Makes multiple instances of Vegas somewhat useless for me as I always prerender and don't render to a new file.

So...what happens if you change your pre-render folder in the second instance?

Actually, that’s the solution Ed! Since the pre-rendered files folder is saved with the project you can control the directory they go into at a project level and thus solve this problem. I guess Sony doesn’t have to do anything. You just need to separate your renders if you plan to pre-render simultaneously.

I don't want multiple prerendered folders!!!!! I want Vegas to be smart enough to figure this out.
