Preference wont change

Under the Preferences Editing tab, I have tried "unticking" the function "cut copy and delete grouped events" with this result - no change, the grouped events still delete together. Returning to the function I find it is still "ticked" So I untick it, close the menu, open it and the box has re-ticked itself.
Any thoughts?

I think there's an Apply button you have to click on the Editing page, towards the bottom.

The screen resolution was set to 880X on that computer so that it just cut off the bottom of the menue with the "apply" button. On my main computer 1024x768 it was visible. Mystery solved, issue closed with your assistance, thanks,
