Prepare DVD Function not working!

PeterWright wrote on 3/17/2003, 4:35 AM
I'm trying to output my first DVDA project, 3.9 Gb - (MPEG2 to MPEG2 recompression involved to get it down to that size), but after going through the MakeDVD > Prepare DVD process four times, I get the following error, after about four hours of "rendering:

"Warning - An error occurred while writing a file. Error 0x80047001 (message missing)"

The same result occurred with "Prepare DVD" and "Prepare DVD and Burn"

After clearing this error window, the folder into which the rendered material was directed is empty. No files. Not a sausage. A dead parrot.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this?

thanks for any help

What kind of burner do you have? Do you have the veritas software DLA installed. If so try disabling the DLA feature in properties DVD in windows explorer. You may want to try reducing the bitrate and recapture the video but 3.9 GB should be fine. Check the DLA feature first if you have this software installed.

I was contacted off-forum by Steve from Sofo, and eventually we tracked it down to a strange error -

On about the third page of "Prepare DVD" it reports available space in the folder chosen for rendering into. Mine was showing Zero, even though 20 Gb was available on that drive. Changing the folder to one on the Root directory of the disc made it show the available space correctly, and everything ran smoothly from then.

So far with 1.0a I haven't had the same problem ...

I have a Pioneer A04 burner, but this was irrelevant at the time, as I was only preparing DVD as a separate process to burning.

I AM seeing this problem with 1.0a, and your work-around doesn't do the trick. It throws up the error message indicated, and the folder, regardless of bytes available shown on the last page, disappears. This problem has kept me from successfully burning even ONE DVD with this product, and I'm growing increasingly frustrated.

I have been able to make a simple DVD 10 min. Trying to make a 4.7 Gig one does not work. All kinds of errors. HP200i burner. Does not like DVD+RW.

I will try to post error messages later.

I've used a HP200i burner to burn 3 DVD's with DVD-A so far. A 3.9, a 4.6 and a 4.4 GB disc. No problems.

1. check to be sure you have the latest firmware for the burner.

2. try a different brand of media.

Same probelm here and it's very frustrating:

Right at the end of the "Preparing" stage, when it's building a VO (2 of 2) it stops and an error message box pops up. words to the effect of...

"Error writing a file. Error 0x80047001. message missing."

I've got plenty of RAM and HD space. I've noticed a few other people are also encountering this issue. Any solutions found yet?

Did you try changing the rendering folder to root directory - quote from further back in this thread :

"On about the third page of "Prepare DVD" it reports available space in the folder chosen for rendering into. Mine was showing Zero, even though 20 Gb was available on that drive. Changing the folder to one on the Root directory of the disc made it show the available space correctly, and everything ran smoothly from then."
