prepare error--menu size cannot exceed 1 GB

I started using DVD Architect for the first time--after figuring it out and completing my project, I went to burn the DVD and went to 'prepare'

It gave an error message of, "The estimated total size of all menus exceeds the maximum size of 1 GB"

Since we know that DVDs can hold close to 4.7 GBs, why is this happening?

Both my video/audios total only about 2 GB after rendering--should I have added them to something other than the menus? maybe pages? where should I add medio to to make this work--I'm using a two menu DVD--keep in mind I'm new to this--Thanks

Well, it sounds like maybe you imported your titles as background to menus instead of titles - as far as your main video’s concerned, buttons (links) to your video are all that should appear on the menu page. The help file and manual give several ways to import your main video as a title, & sites like this one: [http://www.dvd-replica.com/DVD/index.php] can give you a good understanding of how DVDs work & their structure.

Menus normally are just short clips with a max duration of about 2 minutes - 1 minute being probably the average for the main menu, with stills for secondary menus, and a duration of just seconds for menus used as transitions. Because the video often takes a back seat as eye candy - your viewer needs a clear menu in order to choose anything - bit rates are usually lower, not approaching 8 or 9 as your titles might.

Thanks--I have to go out for Father's Day, but will try what you say when I get back--DVD Arch. has a lot of help, but sometimes doesn't explain the obvious--I'll let you know--Thanks again
