PreSonus Firepod & Sony Vegas

Hi there,

I'm using a PreSonus Firepod as my one and only soundcard. I have an AMD X2 5000+ and 2GB of RAM. I thought that would be enough to record audio in Sony Vegas. When I record a track of audio while simultaneously monitoring that same track I hear a tremendous amount of distortion, crackles, and pops. When I play back the recorded audio it sounds perfect, so the distortion seems to have come from the monitoring. This leads me to believe that I have incorrectly configured Sony Vegas to work with my PreSonus Firepod. Here is a screenshot of my current Audio Device settings in that tab under Options > Preferences:

Before playing around myself, I thought I would ask the forums.

Don't use Microsoft Sound Mapper as the Audio device type.

The Firepod should be provided with decent drivers, either WMD/MME or ASIO (or perhaps both). Make sure you select either Windows Classic Wave Driver (for WDM/MME) or ASIO (for ASIO) for Audio device type.

Select the ASIO drivers for your Firepod - instead of the mapper drivers. This should solve your problems.
