Preview

Must render a track to see the effect of a Video FX or is there a setting to see the effect live in the preview mode instantly. I know that there is a option under tools to preview in player. I would just like to see the effect of an filter or FX in the preview window.

Do a ram render---select the area you want to see, and then go up to Tools/ Build Dynamic Preview---that will give you a full motion preview of the fx on either your CRT or your external. Before doing so, make sure you have set the ram preview----Options/Preferences/Video/ and at the top, you will see the Dynamic Ram Preview box---I have 895mb availble, I set my to 750mb.
