Red screen indicates a GPU issue. Any more clues? AMD GPU?

If you put your system information into your forum signature it would make it easier to give advice.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3550 CPU @ 3.30GHz

That is almost certainly where you're problem lies. That CPU was released around 12 years ago and is not anywhere near meeting the recommended computer specifications for Vegas Pro 21, which are listed in: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/specifications/#productMenu

Though not given presumably the computer's GPU is of a similar age.

I'd be very surprised if you can get the AI Deep Learning Models to work with your computer given that I couldn't years ago (Vegas Pro 19 probably) with an Intel 4th gen i7 with an AMD RX480 GPU.

Maybe its time to think about acquiring a new modern computer.

My signature has examples of what you could put in yours.

For GPU can you look at help/driver update? It should say what is installed. If it recommends a newer driver, download it.

Elena-Gufeld wrote on 5/19/2024, 7:57 AM

The previous version was working fine (before update) after I updated some settings in preferances (i don't remember what)

Dexcon wrote on 5/19/2024, 8:23 AM

The latest update had significant changes to Vegas Pro's 'engine' so it may not be surprising that those engine updates may leave legacy CPUs/GPUs behind. If Vegas Pro 21 build 208 or 300 worked for you with your computer, you could always uninstall the latest build and re-install build 208 or 300 - whichever last worked for you - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/

Thank you. Not driver update but this tells us you use the GTX 550TI which was last supported by VEGAS Pro 17 if I remember correctly.

I'd suggest going back to the last version that worked and not updating VEGAS until you have newer hardware.

It's possible before you disabled hardware decoding in preferences/ file io or checked legacy AVC (which didn't use the GPU in VP 21.208 and older).

You can find old versions of VEGAS here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/
