Preview Box is slow, freezing, and off sync

I'm getting sick of it that a lot of times my little video preview doesn't play the video project perfectly. It just freezes the sound goes off sync, very annoying. And the best way to preview my result is to save the whole thing as an unfinished video, to then view it how it will look. VERY frustrating and tiring. What is this? A memory or Ram issue? I have lots of memory space, and lots of ram installed already.

We need more specs: whate files are you editing? Are you still using Vegas 6?

Download the trial of the latest Vegas version, and see if this one works better.

Still using Vegas 6, yes. Any video file I use has the same irritation.

Are the files on an internal or external HD, if external how is it connected - firewire or USB?

Are effects applied to your video, that will slow the framerate of the preview window.

Make sure you set the preview quality to 'preview<auto'.

All stored on a seperate hd, and all I have are brightness effects put on the overlay tracks. The preview has always been on auto.
