Preview goes blank?!

Sorry if this has been covered already. I'm new to this and the forums.

I've been capturing short clips from my Sharp VL-WD255 camera, but after 2 or 3 (usually three) takes, my preview screen goes blank. I can still control my camera from the computer, but cannnot capture. Using the reconnect option doesn't help. Only rebooting the computer and SFVidCapture seems to reconnect.

I have the latest versions of VV, SFVidCapture, DX8.
Using an ADS Pyro card.
Win98SE on a PIII/800

What am I missing here? Arggh.

You know glooy...jus thinkin' here. Maybe you are screwed. Enjoy the fact that reboots are fairly fast on your system. 50 reboots at 1 minute a pop...that ain't too bad.

Maybe next year you will have time to rake the leaves out back.

Hope this helps,

Thanks CG,

I was getting bored here. Mowed the leaves in the backyard, then decided to have fun with my own post.

I just realized I can turn my camera off then back on, and VidCap reconnects. But I hate having to wear out the on/off switch on the camera.

Meanwhile things are sort of working here.

Once again...thanks,

I swapped cables, but the problem remains.
Although I have found that removing and re-inserting the cable into the camera also clears the problem.

I don't get it. The cable is secure. It just needs to be reinserted every once in awhile.
Better than restarting the computer and the camera!

Doh! I shoulda tried this first thing!
