Preview is playing at the wrong speed...???

First I am very new to video and DVD authoring. I am very familiar with audio and recording.

When I try to preview something in DVDA3 it plays back too fast. The video and the audio are in sync but the speed and pitch are wrong. DVD's play back at the correct speed but the preview issue is distracting.

My system is a MOTU 2408 mk iii clocked to an apogee ad16x. My console is a Tascam DM24. All of this is working and clocked just fine. Vegas 6 works and previews fine with the correct sample rate. The video I am trying to preview was created in Vegas and has a sample rate of 48k.

The other thing I notice is that my MOTU audio concole application is reset to 44.1 after I try to preview something . Very confusing.

I tried searching for sample rate related posts but came up with nothing useful. I hope I'm not asking a too often asked question.

Thanks, William

While there has been little I can do to test a way to change the sample rate at which DVDA3 plays audio I did notice a change. After rendering something in Vegas6 I used "preview in player" to watch it in wmp. Later, when I previewed a clip in DVDA3 (a different one than what I previewed in V6) it played at the correct speed and pitch.

WMP will support differnt sample rates but on my system I have to make sure my word clock is set to 48 if I want to watch anyting that is natively 48k. Otherwise WMP gives me an error or something.

Anyway, it seems as if the preview I did in WMP might have had something to do with DVDA3 playing at the correct sample rate. Does DVDA use some component of WMP for preview? Just curious. Seems silly to have to watch something in WMP before I can preview in DVDA.
