Preview kaput

All of a sudden in V 8.0c, the preview window does not show video played by clicking on clip in Vegas Explorer or Project Media window. I hear the audio, but see no videp.

This just started happening on a new re-install of Vegas.

Has anyone ever seen this?

I've seen it on clips the codec couldn't read. Audio only.
If you drag it to the timeline, is it audio only showing? No video track at all?
Sounds like a codec issue or a bad install.

Oops, yeah. Forgot to mention that timeline playback works just fine.

Shot it with old standard VX2000 Dv cam and imported with Sony M15AU.

It is a new, post-crash re-install though. Are you suggesting just running it again, of is there something to check now or look for as it installs again?

From the 8.0c Readme:

When the Show Video Monitor button in the Trimmer window is selected, video that you preview from the Vegas Explorer and Media Manager windows is played back in the Trimmer.
Because the Trimmer is placed in the same window dock as the Explorer and Media Manager, you will not see your video preview.
To preview Explorer and Media Manager video, you can drag the Trimmer to a new dock group, or you can turn off the Show Video Monitor button to preview in the Video Preview window.

Check the trimmer and toggle the "show video monitor" ---

Yup, it was the trimmer window. Funny I never encountered that before.
