preview problems in VV4, but ok in VV3?

Hello all, I have a machine running VV3 perfectly. I have installed VV4 now and am having problems previewing files. The playback is staggered in 4 but not 3. I can have both programs open and alt tab between and the file is playing back smoothly on 3 but not on 4. I have checked settings in 4 and they are all the same as 3. I have removed the firewire card and the problem is still there. I have tried different preview settings to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Dell dual P111, 2 x 1Ghz, Matrox G450, 1gb ram, Scsi raid, 3 x 10,000 rpm Cheetahs

You might check the resample setting in the event properties...

I had a similar problem untill a read about a possible cure on these boards. JohnnyRoy and SonicDennis suggested changing your audio playback buffering from 0.35 to 0.4 (go to Options > Preferences > Audio Device to change the settings). Thanks for you suggestion. The problem occurs playing a clip from the Trimmer or Explorer so I haven't added anything to the Timeline yet. But I know that Timeline preview has the same problem.
