Print from timeline problem

I'm still experiencing a problem when I want to print to tape from the timeline with manual device control. VV30 will render the temp files, display the countown screen, countdown, then, nothing. I get a blank screen, the prgress meters stay at 0%, and the only way out is to cancel and wait for control of my machine.

If I take the same timeline and print to tape with device control enabled, everything works fine (I can reprint with control enabled, and VV30 will use the already rendered temp files and will start printing right away or if I start with a project that has not been rendered previously, printing from the timeline with device control enabled, vv30 will render and print normally).

So, what might be causing this problem. It's annoying when I want to copy to several devices at the same time . . . although I can get around this problem.

Other than that, VV30 is rock solid on my system. I've printed many a project in the 60 to 90 minute range and not so much as a hiccup.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Manual print works fine for me using a media converter. Are you using a camera during the manual process (and looping through that)? What camera?

I'm using a Sony TRV103 Digital 8 Camcorder. I can print flawlessly from vidcap everytime, whether manual or using enabled device control. It's only printing from the timeline that is giving me a problem.

With short test projects, it sometimes works. With longer projects, I either get an error message before the countdown screen "message not found" whatever that means, or the countdown completes, I get blank screens (on my camcorder and the monitor attached to my VCR (which, in the case of manual control, is my ultimate target recorder), and that's it, output from VV30 proceeds no further.

All of this was working perfectly at one time (I'm using WinXP on a dual boot machine). I can boot into Win98SE and it works there (although the output is not as reliable, my Win98SE setup is prone to stutters and dropouts).

Fortunately, VV30 is redundant in providing routes out to tape, so, while annoying (because I know it should work, used to work), this little glitch on my system is in no way fatal to my use of the program.

The really good news is that VV30 is consistently flawless in printing my projects out to tape (via vidcap), and, ultimately, that's far more important than whether I print from the timeline or from vidcap.

Of course, the reason I need timeline output is because, often, I'll have rendered and output a project only to find a typo in a title or some other minor change that needs to be made. Or, a project may need to be printed out with modifications specific to the viewer for whom I'm making the tape. In the second example, the change is one time only. I can't afford disk space to render the entire project over again, so timeline output is a perfect solution.

Would appreciate any suggestions. I've tried re-installing the program. That didn't work. Have also re-installed and repaired my WinXP installation. That didn't work, either.

Thanks for your reply and thanks in advance for any help you can give.
