Print to tape

When I first started messing around with the 'Print to Tape'
feature of Vegas Video Capture I was getting very choppy and
unacceptable results. After reading the on-board
troubleshooting file, I thought the problem was due to slow
processor speed and/or hard drives. I just updated my system
to 933mhz with 256mb of ram and I also added a 30gb, 7200rpm
hard drive... but I'm still getting the same choppy playback
that I was getting before. What's my next move?

Thanks in advance!

I am currently engaged in a SF tech support volley and am having a
similar problem as you and would give anything to resolve it. Here
is what I have learned so far and I hope it helps. I have the same
equipment you do and agree that it is not hardware. I can capture
video all day just fine. I can Print to Tape those same clips all
day just fine. But as soon as I render them in VV they no longer
print to tape. I have spent over 100 hours now testing every single
possible setting and have found this out: VV Capture 2.0a captures
NTSC DV Type-1 files. My current OHCI card and camera combo will
print to tape Type-1 files fine. But as soon as I render it, it
becomes a NTSV DV Type-2 file and my card can no longer deal with it.
This is not to be confused with OpenDML Version 2 AVI files. Now, I
take my newly rendered VV NTSC DV Type 2 clip and import it into
another program such as Ulead MedeaStudio Pro, re-render it as a NTSC
DV Type-1 file, and PRESTO, IT PRINTS TO TAPE FINE using any Capture
software out there including VV. So, for the last month I have been
doing all my production in VV, then having to use MedeaStudio Pro in
order to get it back to the camera!!!!! My next step (it doesn't
appear as if SF will be able to help me), is to try another card and
see if I can find one that will Print to Tape NTSC DV Type-2 files!!!
Perhaps Western Digital? Good Luck...

I have since resolved these issues, and amazingly enough, it was
hardware all along?!@#$%*?! All is well now... See my forum post No.
