Print to tape for 2 tapes (specifying a start point)

Hi,

Okay I finish this project which is 90 minutes, render as uncompress AVI, then do the print to tape. The miniDV only holds 1 hour, so I stop the print to tape thinking I can eject the tape, place a new one and continue the print-to-tape at a specified location. Wrong. I can't get the print-to-tape start playing at a specified location.

I could just render for 1 hour only but since I already have the full footage AVI (to be dumped on a VHS tape) I don't see why I can't....and save me the time.

Any ideas?

Select the video on the Vegas timeline from the point you want to start until the end. Then, in the first dialog that comes up when you select print to tape, tell it to only print the selected region.

Not that this directly relates to your answer (or problem) but... that is surely just a regular DV AVI (which is compressed of course) as I don't believe you can even do a print-to-tape of uncompressed AVI.

The suggestion by John to print-to-tape a region from the timeline is definitely the way to go.

[edit]... and you could also print the whole thing to an 80 minute Mini-DV tape if you run it in LP mode (as that fits 120 minutes on it). There are many who may say you should not do this as there can be more dropouts when recording in LP mode but I use that format A LOT and have so far (touch wood) never had any issue ever.

Ohh I see... I was using the Video Capture (Print to tape) feature instead.

Thanks!
