Anyone already perhaps changed a setting somewhere and got it going? :)

Nothing to do. I got this response from Sony Staff but it did'nt work for me, hope it helps:

"Please right click on MyComputer and select Properties. Then click on the Hardware tab and Device Manager button. Find this camera under Imaging Devices or Sound,Video and Game Controllers. Right click on it and select to install driver or refresh driver or update driver, something to that sort. When it asks if Windows should go online to update it, select No. Then choose to update it Manually. Then uncheck "Show compatible hardware", scroll down to Sony then choose Sony D-VHS Device. Then see if the issue remains after doing so."

I have tested printing a 35 second clip to tape using Vegas 6.0b, and Crash Recording is now working correctly for me. I have not had time to test anything longer, like the more typical 30 minutes to 1 hour long videos I typically edit yet.

DSR11 is definitely not an editing deck so if it worked before but not now I'd say that's because the deck was never frame accurate in the first place. Perhaps Sony disabled the options from 5 to 6 but I would say it was wrong with v5 and was 'fixed' in 6. Strange logic and it doesn't help you I'm sure, but I think you're asking that deck to do something it's not designed to do.

Also, and this may be just me, as a paid Vegas owner I'm concerned that you as a paid Vegas owner are copying and pasting your responses from Sony for all users to read. Sharing information is a good thing, my record here and as a Community Leader on the COW demonstrates that, but perhaps that sort of information could be shared not quite so literally.

Rick,

I'll address the DSR11 aspect of your reply: I agree 100% that it is not an editing deck. However, I'm not asking it to make insert edits (like an edit deck) I'm asking it it to be a feeder/recorder. In Vegas 5 there was deck control on the print to tape. My deck would go into the record mode and start recording. In fact, Vegas 6 does work correctly with my Sony camcorder and that certainly is not an edit deck.

Thanks.

DSR11 is not an editing deck, I agree, but i'm not asking it to do something it can't do because in Vegas 4 it did and I was satisfied with the results too; so I thought in vegas 6 it could work :)

I'm sorry I pasted here the responses I got from Sony, I didn't think about your concern and simply tryied to help other people. I'll pay more attention now, thanks for your advice Rick.

1) your OS version # - WinXP Pro SP2

2) Your DV device - DSR 45

3) The versions of Vegas you have installed. Vegas 5d, Vegas 6b

4) And lastly, how are DV capture & PTT working in all versions. - Everything works fine in Vegas 5, but when trying to manually PTT in Vegas 6b, I get a fully grayed out box where I should be able to Finish. Can not start project to PTT.
I'm just trying to use the deck as a pass-through to make a VHS.
Capture works fine.

1) OS version #: Win XP Pro SP2

2) Panasonic AG DV 2500

3) Installed versions:

4) Functionality test:

Vegas 5.0d: Capture ok. Print to tape in both modes, not working
but used to work fine before version 6.

Vegas 6.0b: Capture ok. Print to tape in both modes, not working

1) your OS version #
XP Pro w/ SP 2

2) Your DV device
Canon camcorder ZR 90 A through a ADVC 100

3) The versions of Vegas you have installed. Note: new versions of Vegas DO NOT break capture or print to tape in other versions- nothing related to DV i/o is overwritten.

5 d and 6 b

4) And lastly, how are DV capture & PTT working in all versions.

5 d works in both modes
6 b does not work from the timeline

Well, it seems that Sony again are trying to address certain issues that paying customers are having. 3 months this has been up and still no answer.

Premiere or Avid are starting to look like options after all.
