Print to tape option still not working in 4.0b

This is getting frustrating. I am running windows xp pro on a dell 2.53 pentium 4, with one gig of ram. In Vegas three I had no problems printing to tape. And even when I firts starting using V4 I have no problems. However now when I go to print to tape it renders the footage, starts the camcorder and then no picture or sound get transfered to the camera. It just stays black. It then completes the time frame of the clip and shuts the camera off so I know its not the firewire connection.

Any ideas? I did recently uninstall vv3.0c would that have done something?
I have checked the camcorder and nothing seems to be wrong with it.

I just really frustrated. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't have anything to do with it. But, who knows. I would first try uninstalling Vegas 4 and reinstalling it.

Another shot in the dark . . . I've seen a few problem posts recently tied to confusion in XP over multiple versions of VF/V? still residing in files on the system. I.e., don't just uninstall VV3, open Explore and delete the VV3 folders, which will still be there after uninstalling. Then reinstall V4b. It worked for me. Grob

I took your advice and deleted vv3.0c and also V4.0b, and then reinstalled V4.0b. Still no luck getting it to print to tape. I have done this many times before, and then all of a sudden it would not send to tape. The camera is working properly, maybe I should test it with another program to see if that works. I am totally stumped here.

Any other ideas?

Something that worked for me, in preferences in capture unchecked "enable device control", then operated the camera manually. As well make sure camera is in playback mode. May help!

Just a shot in the dark, but I wonder if deleting the 1394 adapter/host controller in Device manager and rebooting might help? I say this because occasionally I run into off the wall problems along these lines and do this. On reboot, the device will be reinstalled and who knows, maybe it will reset something. I would do it without the cam plugged in. Then after reboot, plug cam in and hopefully it will reinstall.

I had a problem printing to tape in 4a. Friend had same problem. He used VV3 and so did I and that worked.
