Check to make sure you didn't accidentally nudge the opacity level on the event or the video level in the track header.

check what mike suggested, and if you have a lot of simple edits, see if it will render to a new track first.

need to know if sd or hdv before going any further....

It is SD. A fully rendered avi. I imported it into the timeline, didn't touch nothing, and it claims that 80% has to be rendered.

Did you bring it into a new project, does the avi properties match the project and does that match what the VCR is set to.

Is it a DV AVI rendered file. Remember, AVI is just a wrapper, the codec is important as well.

the avi is a rendered file. I never had this problem before until a few days ago. Both in Vegas 6 and 7, it is now doing it. Even when I render the original file to make it an avi, it seems to take a lot longer to render.

It sounds like you are not rendering to the correct AVI type. Are you rendering to a DV AVI?

Okay, then time to start looking for the less obvious stuff.

What effects have you applied? What framerate and resolution is the original file? Have you used BROADCAST safe or any filter like that? Are you using the correct aspect (not rendering to anamorphic or vice versa).

Just some ideas to check.

I found that the problems was caused by my audio settings. Somehow, I must have changed them. I went back to my settings I normally used and everything is fine now.
