I'm finally trying to output some of my work to a VCR. But, I'm having one of two symtoms occur randomly. I've searched this forum for solutions, but everything I've tried doesn't seem to help. First of all here is my config:
Dell 4300 Computer
P4 1.6Ghz Processor
512MB RAM
1 - 40GB hard drive for OS and VV30a
2 - 100GB hard drives for video
Adapted 1394 card
Canon XL1s camera to convert from the computer data to analog
VV30a
What I'm doing is using the VV30a Capture Utility to open up a few AVI files to print to tape. I order them the way I want them viewed then select the "Preview on Device" button. I then press play in to begin sending the data to my VCR. At this point everything is fine.
However, during playback I get one of two things that go wrong:
1 - A blue screen will appear on my VCR monitor and the audio stops. This lasts about 1 to 2 seconds then playback resumes.
or
2 - The video will continue to play fine, but the audio cuts about for only a second then resumes.
These behaviors are random and sometimes do not occur at all. I must babysit my print to tape process to ensure I get a good print or else I have to start over and hope it doesn't happen.
I even used the "Print Video to DV Tape" option within VV30a and the problem occurs there too.
Do any of you use any other 'print to tape' utilities as an alternative to VV30a?
Any ideas on how to make this more solid so I don't have to babysit each video?
Thanks,
Ron
