When "printing to tape" from the timeline via firewire from the ADS Pyro card to a new DV deck (Sony WV-DR9 Japanese import model), the deck stops recording. It is happens at various times..23 minutes, 47 minutes, etc.
To narrow it down:
1. I connected the deck to an analog VHS recorder via the decks analog outputs and the transcoded VHS copy comes out perfectly. The monitor was connected to the VHS deck's analog outs. There is no visible audio or video interruption on the VHS copy at the point where the DV deck stops recording.
2. I have recorded with the deck through its analog inputs to DV and it records without a problem.
3. I also tried using a 4 Pin to 4 Pin firewire cable to record directly from my camera to the deck. I copied an 83 minute tape and a 30 minute tape to a large DV tape in the deck and it didn't fall out of Record mode once.
4. I tried a different IEEE 1394 6 Pin to 4 Pin cable from the card to the deck and the same problem occurs. The deck stops recording Digital Video after a period of time.
5. I posted on the ADS group, but go no response. I have been editing with VV3 for about 8 months now and it is the first time I have run into Print to Tape issues. I have been Printing to Tape to my camera (VX2000)via firewire or through the camera to my analog VHS dubbing rack without a problem. The purpose of the deck was to be able to master longer videos on large DV tapes.
6. I havent tried a different edited video project yet. Could timecode interruptions be an issue?
7. Could the prerendered AVI files be corrupted without there being any visual or audible artifacts on the monitor?
8. Could one of the settings in VV be wrong?
Thanks in advance.
John
