Printing HDV to tape bug.

I thought I had this licked. Render project to complaint HDV m2t file and then print that to tape. Not something I do regularly but as client pays he gets to say.
Problems I just discovered is that:

1) Vegas 9.0c does not provide for leaders and trailers during the PTT.
2) The file I printed to tape must have had an incomplete / truncated GOP at the end. Playing back the end of the tape the last second is displayed as a frozen frame for around 1 second and the short fade to black is lost.

I've now added leader and trailer to the project and am now rendering it out again. Hopefully this will cure the problem. It'll also be interesting to see if the correct TC ends up on tape. Not that it matters that much but it does look a little more professional if program start is at 01:00:00;00, something that Vegas seems to go out of its way to make fiendishly difficult to achieve.

If anyone else has got a workflow that works to get HDV to tape I'm all ears.

Bob.

so far i haven't ppt with 9c. however, though you could in previous iterations slap heads and tails on ppt i always found it simpler to do so on my final project (usually dv).

for the few hdv i've done the same - old habits die hard - anyway, i found i had to render the finished project to compliant hdv anyway, so it was no big deal....

I'll see about PTT to HDV tomorrow. Only ever did it DV I think (maybe not, I could of PTT to HDV for the 48 hour film project, then re-captured as DV. Faster then rendering out to DV I'm thinking0.

It all worked out OK in the end, just added a head and tail to the original project and rednered it out and then did the PTT.

What I didn't try doing was PTT directly from the project, maybe that would have given me the option I was missing.

Hope you've had some of the rain we've been getting down here.

and how!!!

horses are equally bogged down as my ride-on. i'm sitting here watching the bloody grass grow - literally. quite unbelivable how it's all brown paddocks one day, lush green two days later.

hope the new year brings you all you want - personally i'll be happy with a z5 and card recorder. if it wasn't for the horses (and possibly abc) i'd go tapeless......

have a great year,

leslie

Haven't printed to tape from Vegas Pro (yet) but Vegas Movie Studio allows you to add leader and trailer and color bars when printing to tape. This is SD, never tried HD.

"hope the new year brings you all you want"

I was supposed to down south shooting our dying, stagnate rivers :)
All my fault really, I jokingly said "With my luck there'll be a100 year flood."
Sorry about that, might be time to prep your ark :)

I just did PTT yesterday for the first time in a long time. Couldn't find the test bars, test tone, trailer, etc. Turns out this is only available when you PTT from the timeline. It is not available from the capture/PTT option in the file menu.
