I think they changed it because so many users asked for it. But it's also pretty easy to flip back. Open Tools/Preferences and then select the Display tab. The switches are there.

hold down SHIFT when you open OPTIONS/PREFERENCES and you'll be able to view the INTERNAL settings tab

look for "Frame Dock At The Top" and set it to false

Just a word of caution on playing with internal prefs... This is why, I'd assume, Sony gave us the option of doing this in regular Vegas preferences now. The internal prefs option was a work around for those who wanted the dock in a more traditional location. Use the new way to do it - prevents anything terminal from happening to the program.

My new install of Vegas Pro 8a has the timeline on the bottom of the screen and the master fader, explorer on top. I can't find the way to put these screens in the same position as I had them in Vegas 7. Please advise. Thanks for your help.

8.0, no update did that too. I thought you meant that they auto-changed it back. Whew! :D

Hello Rob,

Thanks for the info. It's back to the way I'm used to it. It's actually "Options/preferences" not "Tools/preferences" but I got the idea.

The "why" part. That was just rhetorical. Thanks again and thanks to the others for the quick replies.

Regards,
George
