I'm with Sony on this.

They are running a business. Yes, we are the customers but there *are* other business out there, and those companies are trying to snatch us away from Sony whenever they can.

No one can snatch away a happy and satisfied customer. And if a customer is unhappy and unsatisfied, they'll walk away... they don't need to be snatched.

NLEs require a huge investment in time to learn as well as investment in add-on software, plug-ins, etc. Also, projects cannot be seamlessly ported from one NLE to another especially where external Fx and plug-ins were used. So it is not practical to jump from one NLE to another just because one has a new feature a few months ahead of another.

Did anyone think that perhaps Videography jumped the gun with this news? And this was not part of Sony's release plan? Videography probably got this info to make the print publication dates and then went and posted it on their website.

In terms of not announcing bugfixes and feature adds, Sony approach affords them maximum flexibility as to what goes in a release and what does not. This flexibility is probably greatly appreciated by their project management team especially since they are dealing with a piece of code that is becoming gnarly.

The thing that surprised me most that SCS is using Twitter. Did anybody else know this? Have this been mentioned on the forum?

Note: 9d has not been announced on Twitter which is supports my theory that Sony didn't want this info out yet.

I'm joking about the SCS's super stealthy, locked down, communication secret wall of silence,...but as irreverent as I'm being, I think SCS doesn't think it's silly at all.

I wish it were not like this,...but whatever. I'm not going anywhere so I guess I'm just stuck with it. (and all of you are too!)

BTW,...I predicted this in another post;
Vegas 9d will have expanded AVCHD encoding and NEW XDCAM "phase4" compression support. (to mach the NXCAM and Sony's release of teh new XDCAM format) Let's see how crazy I am on this! lol
