Pro Titler

It was bad when I first went from 7 to 8, real flashy, non responsive, can't get the presets to work at all, help is no help, but with 8a its WORSE. Its incredible how worthless this titler is and has been hyped so much, and it took Sony over a month NOT to answer my questions about V8 crashing! I don't think V8 was ready to be released, too many bugs

Which presets in ProType don't work? Can you be specific?

since your pc specs aren't listed, would you care to elaborate?

i too was somewhat fraught with prot when i first started playing with it, but by and large it's not too bad once you get your head around the gui. i've managed to freeze it on a couple of occasions (more likely operator error), lost my collections in the update to 8a, but am still playing with it.

both it, and 8/8a seem to be exceptionally stable on my system.

please be more explicit....

now you'll have to support both folders in new versions so people don't have issues again. :D

I have experience similar (not crashing, but hanging) since going to 8.0a. Here's the complete story as submitted to Tech Supp:

I am experienceing a problem in ProType Titler in Vegas 8.0a. Vegas "hangs" when attempting to use a

collection. I had a similar problem in 8.0, but discovered that if I paused for a second or two in PTT

after clicking on "collections" (before selecting a collection) thn I would not experience the problem.

Detail:
Before the problem, Task Manager reports vegas80.exe using around 70MB RAM and 0% CPU (whilst in a

"resting" state).
I click "collections", then click on a collection (custom or preset) and attempt to drag & drop. The

"cannot drop here" (circle with diagonal line) symbol appears wherever I move the cursor, including back

over the original collection - I cannot get rid of this. Task Manager shows Vegas is using about 175MB

ram and CPU utilization fluctuating mainly around 50% but occasionally dropping briefly as low as 35%.

Vegas will not respond to mouse clicks or keyboard in any way.
I've left the system in this state for 20 mins and returned to find vegas80.exe still running away at

175MB memory usage and 50% CPU utilization.

System spec:
Gigabyte GA965P-DQ6 rev 2.0 Motherboard
Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU
Gigabyte GV-NX76T256D (GeForce 7600GT) Video
OS & Programs on 400GB Samsung
Data on 2 x 400GB Samsung in RAID0 configuration
2GB Corsair TWINX PC6400 RAM
Windows XP Pro SP2 patched up to date

Interestingly, I just tried this again to double check my description and I did NOT experience the

problem. But I have tried it three times subsequently and the problem has returned. Just clicking on a

collection seems to be enough to cause Vegas to "hang" (although it's not really hung as CPU utilization

fluctuates.

Incidentally I have renamed my "Collection" folder to "collections" so that custom collections are listed.
