I have just attempted to use a preset. I had tried last year, failed miserably, so continued using my old caption genny.

I can not remember all the steps but
1 - select and drag a preset in to the time line.
2 - In the text mode, highlight the text, then either paste new or type your title.
3- change the font type as required
4 - Do not change the font size
5 - adjust font size by using X-Y scale sliders.
I might have been lucky but that worked for me.:)
