I would say better hardware. We also don't much about your workflow. What kind of project settings you use, the type of source material, your full system spec, where are the files located and where you are rendering to. We need a lot ore to be more helpful.

Does this information help

Project settings -

Video settings
the NTSC
(720 X480,29.970 fps)

Pixel aspect ratio 0.9091(NTSC DV)

Pixel format 8-bit

the pro type titler is in vegas pro 9 so source material does not apply or should not effect hesitations and jerks found when previewing

System Specs

Windows 7 professional

experience Index 5.9

Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260

Intel(R)Core(tm)i7 CPU 930@2.80GHz

Files should not matter as this problem deals with media in vegas pro also where rendering to should not effect previewing

What are you rendering with? GPU or CPU?
OldSmoke wrote on 1/29/2015, 4:46 PM
The ProType Titler that comes wit Sony Vegas is very compute intensive. Even on my system it will be "jerky" at some point, especially long scrolls. Have you tried reducing your preview quality to Good Full our maybe Preview Full?

Files do matter if you put the text on top of a video clip or picture.

Sorry, wrong thread.

sounds to me there's more then just scrolling text (compositing, etc). I'd suggest preview-half until you get the timing right & solo the track with the text.

I use Protype quite a bit and normally don't have slowdown when I'm using it.

Happy Friar..thanks for the info...I'm only using a single line...please explain about the 'timing'? Thanks Bflobill
TheHappyFriar wrote on 2/3/2015, 6:35 AM
The timing of your credits. When the words appear, is everything lined up when it's supposed to be, stuff like that.
Arthur.S wrote on 2/3/2015, 11:45 AM
Are we getting off track here? Jerkiness in a preview isn't the end of the world, but if it's showing in the final render, that's a more serious problem.
TheHappyFriar wrote on 2/3/2015, 12:00 PM
"in preview and render" makes me think it's not a rendering issue but a timing issue. Everything happening in less then a second could cause issues in preview and render if the system can't keep up with the frame changes.

I am using Vegas Pro 9.0 I am not aware that GPU rendering is available to me So I am guessing that I am using CPU rendering

Maybe these Preferences might help

Dynamic RAM Preview max(MB) 350 Max available:8183MB

Maximum number of rendering threads: 16
