Problem Importing from a camcorder

Everytime I import video from my camcorder, at the conclusion, it give me an error message, and then when I go to the folder that it is in and attempt to work with it in Vegas Movis Studio, it just shows red screens on the time line and doesn't give me a picture, but I have sound. Can someone please help, because the only was i can get video files that i can work with in Vegas Movie studio is to first have them put on a DVD and then inport them.

Need to know what version of vegas and what type of camcorder you are using.

Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 and a panasonic mini dv camcorder

Reset your camera, make sure your timedate is set, and retry. Also, make sure you are capturing using the DV capturing tool and not the HDV one.

The combinationn minidv and firewire is very robust and should work flawlessly. So maybe there is a hardware fault: your cable or firewire port. Try capturing with Windows Movie Maker and see if that works, to begin with.
