Problem Importing Video

I keep running into a problem that I can't figure out. Every so often I try to import a video clip into my library. However when I drag it into my editing area, rather than showing both the video and audio, it only shows the audio; the video is missing. I can't figure out for the life of me why it's doing this.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

What kind of clip is it? Where did it come from?

Two clips were actually movie trailers that I got from two different websites. The thought occurred to me that they were protected so I never looked into the matter further (although it seemed to be rather curious that a movie studio would want to protect a movie trailer, since it is advertising for the movie; something they would want to increase, not decrease).

But then this week I copied files from two of my movie DVDs and ran into the same problem. I use AnyDVD on my machine, which is supposed to remove encryption/copy protection. I've also tried DVD43 with the same results.

ADDED ON 12-16-06: FYI I can see and hear the AVI file just fine when i try to play using Windows Media Player. However when I try to import into Sony Vegas, I only get the audio.

Any ideas anyone?
