Problem rendering to MPEG-2 DVD NTSC from PAL project

I'm getting some nasty artifacts rendering to MainConcept MPEG-2 using the DVD NTSC template from a PAL project. These show up as sort of horizontal line ghosting when there is vertical motion. Examples can be seen at:

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

David

PS Am running Vegas 4.0c on Windows XP Pro SP1. Chip is a 1.05GHz Athlon. System has 224MB RAM.

I am rendering a PAL -> NTSC at this moment and saw the same artifacts and worse in a few short tests I did beforehand. I assumed they were some artifacts from adding the extra frames, going from 25 to 30 frames (kind of what you see with a bad TBC). It did not show when playing at normal speed. I have to wait a few more hours untill the render is out of the oven.

Anybody at Sonic Foundry can help with this? Both David and I have the same problem. He using VV4, me using VV3. It seems to happen every three frames or so.

Looking at your pics, this appears similar if not identical to something I reported with increasing framerates rendering to wmv.

FWIW, might try rendering to 24 fps [smaller file size and irrelevant to the player as it will play back at the correct rate for whatever TV etc.] Depending on your end destination, might work just fine keeping things at 25 fps for that matter.

If you have to go from 25 to 29.97, IF it's less objectionable to you visually, V/dub I think just adds whole frames - less accurate in a way, but no ghosting.
