Problem report: Vegas Pro has stopped working

DavidLV wrote on 12/1/2025, 6:27 PM

I just installed Vegas Pro 23.0 (Build 302) on my fairly new Windows 11 machine with an NVidia RTX 5070 card and 64mb of memory. The software install completed without an issue but when I boot the app I get the message above, asking me if I want to send crash details to Magix. I bought this machine primarily for editing video and have not installed many other applications at this point. I tried installing the software on another machine, but the process ended with a message saying I couldn't install on another system.

Should I uninstall the app and try again? Is there another location where I can get help from support?

Thanks,

David

Could you share the screenshot of the problem details (or paste in what it says)? I don't see anything here.

I also have a RTX 5070 and 64GB of memory and it's working happily.

There are reports of crashes with Microsoft Visual Studio installed. There does seem to be a fix now: Install the most recent release from https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/.

This notice appears once the app boots up, no other details provided 😟

Please check "show problem details" and then copy and paste the text from that.

Could Visual Studio be the problem? If so try downloading the latest version from the link above.

Thanks for this information, I am not alone!

I don't have Microsoft Visual Studio installed on my PC, but I have 10 different versions of Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable runtime libraries installed. I'm sure these were required by other apps I installed.

Is this the source of the problem?

Holy cow.

Before I start messing with my system, I say again that I don't have Visual Studio installed; just the redistributables.

Should I attempt the fix recommended in the final posts of this thread? Or wait till Microsoft delivers a fix?

Thanks everyone for your help - glad I have another system that runs Vegas 23 fine, but wanted to run it on the new machine.

It looks like Visual Studio has been updated by Microsoft: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/

However if that isn't installed maybe you have a different issue?

There was a thread about a similar problem with Visual C++ here: https://www.reddit.com/r/VegasPro/comments/1nvg2p4/potential_fix_for_recent_ntdlldllkernelbasedll/

Thank you RogerS for taking the time to help - looks like some surgery ahead to remove those Visual C++ files.
