Not sure what you mean.

Which kind of multimedia file?

Which kind of error?

Which version and which build of Vegas Pro?

Was that file stored on a removable location?

Is your system online when you try to use this sample project?

Marco. wrote on 9/20/2018, 4:04 PM

It's a codec problem. So again: Is your system online when that problem occurs?

axel-r wrote on 9/20/2018, 4:06 PM

how is the system online?

Marco. wrote on 9/20/2018, 4:09 PM

There is a free codec information tool available which is called "MediaInfo". Any chance to load this certain file "ABC.avi" into MediaInfo and report what infos MediaInfos lists for "ABC.avi"?

axel-r wrote on 9/20/2018, 4:35 PM

where do we find this

Marco. wrote on 9/20/2018, 4:37 PM

Google is your friend ;) -> Here

axel-r wrote on 9/20/2018, 4:39 PM

after downloading the file what do I do?

Marco. wrote on 9/20/2018, 4:40 PM

Launching the MedioInfo EXE file and drag & drop that file "ABC.avi" onto the title bar of the MediaInfo window.
Or from the MediaInfo menu choose "File/Open/File" to navigate to "ABC.avi".

You use a file format which is not natively supported by Vegas Pro (which is h.264 video and MP3 audio in an AVI container).

So you would either need to transcode these files to a different format before you try to import into Vegas Pro. Or install an appropriate codec in Windows (but I don't know which codec this could be in your case, maybe x264vfw). Sorry, for this particular file format I can't help too much because I never use h.264 wrapped in AVI.

axel-r wrote on 9/20/2018, 4:52 PM

I have to leave it in mp4 ?

john_dennis wrote on 9/20/2018, 5:02 PM

You have to get the video and audio into an mp4 wrapper. It's in an AVI wrapper.

Try Handbrake, AVIDemux or VideoRedo, etc.
