Problem With Analog-->DV

This is more of a DV tech question... I'm trying to capture a movie from my TV to my Dv camera (Sony PC9) using the input/output lines and all I get to my DV tape is the sound from the TV and a gray screen - no video..Why is this? I should also note that my TV is PAL and my camera NTSC but - could this be the problem?

Video line out from the TV to your camera? The problem mostly is the
mismatch of standards. Your NTSC camera probably isn't even seeing
the PAL signal as a signal and is giving you a blank grey screen to
cover up the static it thinks it's seeing.
