Problem with DivX renders

Laurence wrote on 11/1/2003, 6:26 AM
When I render to DivX, the render goes well right up until the end of the file when my computer crashes. After I reboot, the rendered DivX file is fine right up until the end where there are errors. I suppose this is from the file not being closed properly. I'm using both the latest version of Vegas and the most recent DivX 5.11 beta.

Not entirely sure but I thought someone like spot posted a message saying DivX 5 was not supported with Vegas but DivX 4 was.

TRy a search on divx.

Yeah - I'd guess the magic word in the first post was "beta"

:-)

I using Vegas 4.0d and Divx 5.1 and I haven't had problems so far.

However, when I render, I render the video and audio as separate files, and then mux the two together.

The DivX renders with the latest beta are way quicker than in previous versions. Everything goes great until the file gets closed I guess. It seems to be calling up a separate rendering program. My guess is that the handing of the file from one program to the other is getting botched, and that it's probably not a hard problem to fix.

Just read a mesg. from the forum at divx.com.

Poster said after installing the beta it crashed his system after just a few minutes encoding. He was using Win98SE, same as me. Also, he said the render speed was no different from 5.1. 5.1 gave him no troubles, btw.

Don't feel the need to be daring, my needs with Divx 5.1 are light-duty anyway.
