Problem with FILMCONVERT LUT - it is not working!

miroslav-h wrote on 5/28/2019, 1:20 PM

Hi guys,

I have just instaled a trial version of FILMCONVERT LUT and if I browse it at the Event FX and load the LUT it does not affect the video on the timeline and what is more there are no presets as you can see in the pics. The path is corret: C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\FilmConvertPro2.0.ofx.bundle\Contents\Win64\FilmConvertPro2.0.ofx but nothing happens.

I use Vegas pro 16 build 424.

Please could you help me?

Thank you a lot

Miro

What you installed is not a LUT but an OFX plug-in. It is not FilmConvert LUT, it is FilmConvert Pro 2.0. You will find it in your FX chooser:

Now when you use FilmConvert Pro to grade your video you'll see in the lower part of this FX window there is a LUT export option. Use this to create/export your favorite grading LUTs which you then can feed into the Vegas Pro LUT plug-in.

True, but I don't recommend doing this as Filmconvert makes very good use of OpenCL so you don't really benefit from exporting a LUT to re-use in Vegas. And of course you lose the Filmconvert grain - which obviously does not carry through in the LUT.

Thanx a lot!

Guys, have you ever tried this GHALEX? This is a specialized LUT for GH5 and the man who created did using Alexa camera:

@miroslav-h I haven't used this, but it wasn't created using an Alexa, it was created to match the Alexa. If you are using the GH5 as a b-camera shooting next to an Alexa, then it sounds interesting enough to test out. If you take the Alexa out of the shoot, there may not be any reason to use this.

I wouldn't bother with it. Nothing you can't do yourself.

That said, if you want to quickly match cameras of diff. brands, see the LeemingLUT Pro technical LUT. I use it with Sony and Panasonic.

IIRC Rubber Monkey software also has a companion product to Filmconvert for camera matching.
