Problem With Finding Right Audio Files

So I'm in the middle a rather big project and having a bang my head against the wall moment. The shoot spanned a good deal of days so tons of media. For audio we primarily used a Marantz recorder, here's the problem: When I open the project the file paths are different when acquired, Vegas prompts to find missing files. Though it dosent have any issues with the video however, much to my shock and horror, there are tons of audio files that have the same name even though their from different days. It seems that the Marantz at some point would restart naming new files with numbers it used before, possibly when being powered off or after dumping and erasing the card.

SO, when Vegas asks to find the missing file, the first line where it shows what file is "missing" it truncates the file path to something like "L:\Vinyl\Vinyl Recording Studio\Audio 1\Dana's Desk\D...\STE-000.wav"

With the "..." there's no way for me to know which one it wants and the search results give 5-8 different files in various folders with that file name. Trial and error are a migraine. Would be simple enough if the full path was shown but the "..." is the death nail.

Any run into this or have any suggestions?

Can you revert to an earlier saved version?

Not knowing how the files were organized when imported leaves little other room for comment.

If you open the Vegas View menu, then check Edit Details (or press Alt-6), you'll see a table of all your media. One of the columns displays the full path and file name of the media files.

Sometimes, when I'm banging my head I try to do the simplest thing possible. Perhaps, it would be worth the time and tedium to rename the audio files with dates and times created and match them with the video of the same date and time.
Pull the bandage off in one attempt.
